Moving is often considered one of life’s most stressful events, and much of this anxiety stems from the fear that our most cherished furnishings will not survive the journey. Many people think that a piece of furniture, once disassembled, inevitably loses its original stability. The reality is different: quality furniture can be recognized precisely by the number of times it can be assembled and reassembled without losing an iota of its solidity. The secret lies not only in the wood, but in what holds it together: the hardware.
The role of vines
Most commercial furniture uses so-called mordant screws. These are screws that dig their housing directly into the wood fibers.
Although effective when first installed, they have a critical structural limitation: each time they are removed and reinserted, they “eat” a small portion of material, enlarging the hole. The result? After a couple of moves, the screws no longer grip, the structure begins to squeak, and the furniture becomes unstable, compromising safety and durability.
To ensure that a bed can follow its owner into each new home, SpazioBed chose a different path, favoring precision mechanical hardware. Instead of having the hold directly on the wood fibers, we use metal sleeve systems.

The advantages of metal sleeve systems
That is why this system makes a difference:
- Metal-to-metal contact: the screw does not enter the wood, but screws into a pre-inserted metal sleeve. This eliminates wear and tear on the wood during assembly operations
- Unchanged Soundness: whether it is the first or the tenth time you assemble your bed, the mechanical soundness remains the same. There will be no play, vibration or sagging
- Ease of Intervention: disassembling the bed becomes a clean, quick operation without the risk of “stripping” holes
How to disassemble and transport the bed safely
If you are preparing to move your wooden bed, here are some basic steps to protect your investment:
- Label each piece: use paper tape to mark the position of headboards, spars and footboards
- Guard the hardware: do not leave screws or sockets strewn about. Store them in a sealed bag and tape it to one of the main components of the bed
- Protect edges: during transportation, dents are just around the corner. Use cardboard corner protectors or bubble wrap for the most exposed parts
- Never force: if components do not separate easily, check for a hidden screw. With quality systems such as sleeve systems, the separation should be smooth
Choosing a bed means not only evaluating its aesthetics or the comfort of its mattress, but also considering its “constructive intelligence.” Investing in a system that uses high-quality hardware means securing a piece of furniture that will last a lifetime, capable of adapting to your changes and moves without ever losing its first-day solidity.
